What Is A Loan Signing Agent?

A loan signing agent is a notary public who is trained and certified to handle and notarize loan documents. They are hired by mortgage companies, escrow companies, title companies, and signing services to ensure that real estate loan documents are executed by the borrower, notarized and returned for processing on time.

They also verify the identity of signers and act as witnesses during the notarization process. Loan signing agents can perform notarial acts outside of notarizing loan documents.

What A Notary Is Not

U.S. Notary Public is NOT an attorney, judge or high-ranking official. A U.S. Notary is not the same as a Notario Publico. Notarios Publicos are highly trained legal professionals similar to attorneys who provide legal advice and draft legal documents. We cannot and will not give legal advice.
